Sports fishing on the Sveta Nedelja lakes

The Sveta Nedelja region and Sava River abounds in lakes that are popular for sports and recreational fishing.

The largest and best known lake is found in Rakitje, and covers an area of 210 hectares. Strmec, Orešje and Kerestinec are also popular lakes. The sports fishing societies are responsible for managing the lake areas, and ensure the cleanliness of the area and manage the stocking of the lakes, with some 20 tonnes of fish released here annually.
The Sveta Nedelja lakes, particularly at Rakitje, Strmec, Orešje and Kerestinec, attract not only recreational fishermen, but also true sports fishermen, looking to hook the premium specimens of carp, grass carp and other fish. The most attractive fishing spot on Rakitje Lake is the site of an international sports fishing competition.

Spending time outdoors in this beautiful natural environment is reason enough to draw sports and recreational fishermen here, and the stakes are even higher when you hook a monster fish, such as the 31.1 kg carp caught on Rakitje Lake, which is currently the Croatian record.

The fishing huts also house a large number of trophies and recognitions that are on display. Due to the prime specimens of freshwater fish, the lakes are attractive not only to the locals, but also to many foreign fishermen, who are frequent guests on our lakes.

In addition to fishing, the lake shores are ideal for recreation, bicycle rides, walks and family outings.
After a day fishing, find some rest and refreshment in one of the nearby restaurants: Jezero Pizzeria, Suhina excursion area, Sevdah restaurant, Kod Marka tavern, Korner Grill.
Fishing permits may be purchased in the fishing lodges, and from the lake manager.
